With application open to all citizens of the state, Leadership Louisiana seeks outstanding individuals who:
- have demonstrated an interest and willingness to lead
- are civic-minded
- possess personal and professional excellence, and
- share some measure of responsibility and commitment to help Louisiana move forward
Program participants come from every major geographic area, and reflect the diverse mix of the state's population. Leaders selected for the program will join the ranks of 750 alumni representing every major sector: corporate, professional, government, finance, news media, education, industry, healthcare, legal, university, political, culture and non-profit.
The Leadership Louisiana Application is posted on the web and is available on October 1st each year with a deadline in early November. Individuals are selected based on the outlined criteria, application information and resume's. Applying for the class does not guarantee selection. Because the class size is limited and should reflect the geographic and demographic make-up of the state, selected applicants are sometimes held over to the following year or put on a waiting list. Applications in recent years have yielded waiting lists in the nonprofit, legal, Baton Rouge, and government sectors
Additional selection guidelines and CABL policies include: 1) if two qualified spouses apply at the same time, only one can be selected for any given Class; 2) any individual running for a state office or legislative seat will not be selected to participate during the same year; and 3) if two qualified individuals from the same organization, agency or company apply at the same time, only one can be selected for any given Class.
Selection notices are mailed in early to mid December with tuition due before the Opening Session in January or February (tuition may also be paid in installments).
Program evaluations, alumni particiaption and sponsorships tell us that Leadership Louisiana is a wonderful and meaningful experience. It is a testament to its growing popularity, that we have had to hold over many outstanding applicants each year simply due to a limited class size. If you are interested in applying, please visit our website in October to download the application. Then complete and return to the CABL office, P. O. Box 4308, Baton Rouge, LA 70821, along with your application fee and attachments required. We welcome your participation.
