Quantum Change Agenda
Health Care Reform
Support reform policies that restructure health care delivery for the entire state focused on 1) allowing money to follow the patient, 2) moving away from the state’s bias toward institutional care and creating a greater emphasis on community-based care, 3) strengthening physician training, and 4) increasing accountability and transparency.
In whatever scenario health care reforms take, LSU should not be required to act as the safety net provider for indigent health care throughout the state. Instead, it should be allowed to focus more specifically on its education mission of training the state’s physicians in a limited number of appropriately-sized teaching hospitals and through partnerships with the private sector.
