Education

Sustain CABL’s role as a leading force and voice in education policy in Louisiana.

Serve on the Louisiana School Accountability Commission and Louisiana High School Redesign Commission and other panels that might impact education policy.

Protect, maintain and build upon effective reforms and standards with a particular focus on Louisiana’s School and District Accountability System.

Support the Recovery School District, charter school expansion and other effective innovations to improve chronically failing schools.

Advocate for reform of local school boards.

Publish an update to the annual Louisiana Report Card on Major Education Indicators and distribute to policymakers, educators, civic groups and news media.

Advocate for further expansion of access to high-quality pre-k programs for at-risk children.

Protect funding for post-secondary education.

Continue support for post-secondary reforms including accountability for improved graduation rates, funding for the flagship university, additional flexibility in setting rates for tuition and fees, and growth of community and technical college programs.

Support efforts to strengthen the Board of Regents and define and clarify its responsibilities and authority to enable it to implement needed reforms.
