Louisiana's 2012 Education Reforms

Why They're Important to You and Your Community

Louisiana has undertaken a variety of education reforms over the last year. While the passage of new laws in the 2012 legislative session has gotten the most attention, policy changes approved by BESE and the state Department of Education have also been significant. Together they represent sweeping changes that put Louisiana in the vanguard of states that are rewriting the formula for public education.

To help citizens understand and become more familiar with the new reforms, CABL has put together this information guide which provides historical background, summaries of the new policies, resources and things individuals can do to support education reform in their communities. A printable version of the full six-page guide is available here.
